Ducks Cut Vitaly Vishnevski, Sheldon Brookbank and Others

The Anaheim Ducks have released Vitaly Vishnevski and Sheldon Brookbank from their professional tryouts, the team announced on Monday.

The Ducks, like a few teams out there, were hoping to bring in some veterans on tryout deals to solidify the team’s defensive depth. It seems that neither provided the solution that the Ducks were looking for.

Vishnevski, an Anaheim Mighty Ducks draft pick in 1998, last played in the NHL during the 2007-08 season and has most recently spent time playing in the KHL.

Last season, Brookbank took his first season without a NHL job since entering the league in 2006. He spent the season playing in the KHL as well, scoring three goals and four assists for Kazan Ak Bars in the K.

All told, the Ducks reduced their training camp roster to 34 players on Monday making the following assignments of players now formerly in camp.
