LOOK: Dallas Stars Misspell Player’s Name

The Dallas Stars took on the Buffalo Sabres at First Niagara Center on Tuesday night in a game that saw Lindy Ruff return to Buffalo as well as defenseman Zach Bogosian make his season debut for the Sabres.

However, people aren’t talking about the game itself. Instead, many are focused on a major blunder on the part of the Dallas Stars equipment staff.

As he took the ice for pregame warmups, Stars goaltender Antti Niemi was wearing his usual #31 sweater. Only problem was, there was a pretty big mistake: his name was spelled wrong.

As you can see in the photo below, Niemi’s name was improperly spelled to Nieme. Unless there was a quick name change before the game began, it’s pretty clear that’s now how it’s supposed to look.

It’s a mistake that will certainly be joked about by fans throughout the hockey world, and is, without a doubt, the biggest blooper of the young 2015-16 NHL season.
