Max Talbot Suspended 2 Games

Boston Bruins forward Max Talbot has been suspended two games by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, the league announced Monday.

Talbot delivered a very late hit to New Jersey Devils forward Jiri Tlusty in Sunday’s 2-1 shootout win over the Devils.

The DoPS announced early on Monday that Talbot would have a hearing for the hit, which was determined to be interference. Talbot rocked Tlusty with an unexpected hit that left Tlusty shaken but not injured. He finished the game. The lack of injury to Tlusty helped to limit the length of Talbot’s slap on the wrist.

Also helping to limit the length of Talbot’s suspension is that this will be the first time he’s received any supplemental discipline.

Watch the Department of Player Safety explanation below.

A suspension isn’t helping Talbot’s case internally this year. On October 27, at which point Talbot had only suited up for two games, the Bruins waived him and ultimately assigned him to the Providence Bruins of the AHL after he went unclaimed. He hasn’t been a steady piece of the roster at all this year.

Playing just 13 total NHL games this season, he has one goal and no assists through 13 games this season.
