Boone Jenner: Goal-scoring Machine and Stick Aficionado

Boone Jenner has been on quite the tear lately.

The 21-year old is currently riding a four-game goal-scoring streak and has fired off 12 shots during the stretch. His third period goal against Florida on the first of the month sealed the Columbus win, the first of four in a row for the Blue Jackets.

With the streak, Jenner’s goal total as a Jackets comes to 21 over two seasons. He burst onto the scene after an impressive showing at the team’s 2013 training camp after only playing five games with AHL affiliate Springfield the season prior. Now, he is able to get a crowd of 18,000-plus to shout “Booooooone” at every mention of his name and has a fan-run twitter account dedicated to him.

His career is young, but Jenner has carved out his role in Columbus as a high-energy, scrappy winger with a knack for scoring. Let us recall the finest moments of his young hockey career.

Floater over Fleury

Jenner does a nice job here sneaking behind Pittsburgh’s defense and redirecting Mark Letestu’s shot. However, this goal could not have come at a better time. The Blue Jackets had come out completely flat against Pittsburgh in game 3 of last year’s first-round series and Columbus desperately needed a score before the period concluded. The goal lifted Columbus’s spirits, spurring a thrilling comeback and tying the series at two games apiece.

That has to hurt…

Jenner, meet Robert Bortuzzo. Bortuzzo, meet the boards. No love for his fellow Ontarian.

What. A. Snipe.

Rumor has it that the top shelf is where grandma hides the peanut butter. Nothing too fancy here, but this is just a fantastic, pure one-timer from the left circle. Nicklas Bӓckstrӧm is a bit late sliding over, but a great shot nevertheless.

True love does exist

Ah, young love. Hockey sticks have brought Jenner a lot of notoriety and money, so he understands that he needs to return the affection. My heart broke, much like his stick, when a collision into the boards broke his beloved stick, but we’re all happy that he was able to find love again. Side note: Don Cherry’s collar is killing me.

Tricky Boone

Speaking of sticks, how rude of is for Jenner to deceive thousands of adoring fans like that? Yes, the Jackets had a comfortable lead, but piling up the goals on a division rival is always fun. The fact of the matter is that Jenner barely grazes the puck.

Boone River

I’m a big fan of Moon River and while I give this fine gentleman an “A” for effort, karaoke parodies are tough to pull off. Warning: slightly NSFW phrasing at the :28 and 1:43 marks.
