Recently, the Boston Bruins announced a list of participants that will be attending the tenth annual development camp for new players that were selected in this year’s National Hockey League Entry Draft and prospects in the Bruins pipeline.

Camps such as these offer developing players an experience of what it’s like to be a professional as they climb the ranks of minor hockey to the NHL, and allows each organization to gauge the progression of the individuals skills and training regiment.
Sadly, this year’s camp, set to begin this week (July 12-15) will be the last year the organization uses the Ristuccia Memorial Arena as their practice facility. The Wilmington, MA arena was built in 1986 and has served as the Bruins practice and training facility since the 1987-88 season, but the increased need for a state-of-the-art training facility that’s closer to Boston couldn’t be clearer.
The Bruins will be moving from the 7,200 square foot Ristuccia Arena to the 100 thousand square foot Warrior Ice Arena complex. The arena itself will be 75 thousand square feet, with the other square footage dedicated to locker rooms and a training center. It will also decrease the travel time from 17 miles down to seven from the TD Garden, making it easier for those living in the immediate Boston area to attend practices and events. The Warrior Ice complex is set to open in September, with it’s first scheduled events being the Bruins rookie camp, followed by the Bruins training camp in preparation for the upcoming 2016-17 NHL regular season.
