Ohio State’s Claudia Kepler Tranferring, Will Join Badgers

The University of Wisconsin has announced that Ohio State’s star forward Claudia Kepler will transfer to the Badgers women’s team in the 2017-18 season.

The Verona, Wisconsin-native and former member of the Madison Capitals youth program has spent the last three seasons skating for Ohio State, where she has totaled 38 goals and 67 points in 107 games. That includes a 14-goal, 25-point junior campaign where she led the team in both categories.

In fact, she led the team in goals all three seasons she spent with the Buckeyes.

In accordance with WCHA rules, Kepler — who participated in USA Hockey Player Development camps each year from 2009 to 2012 — will be required to sit out the 2016-17 season and will not be eligible to suit up with the Badgers until the 2017-18 season.

The Badgers will open their 2016-17 season on Sept. 23 with a road tilt against St. Cloud State.
