Mitchell Chaffee (born January 26, 1998) is a current American ice hockey player, currently under contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Undrafted at the NHL level, Chaffee enjoyed success in his three years at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) level, playing for UMass. In 2018-19, he registered 42 points in 40 games on a team of five players drafted into the NHL, including Cale Makar. They went on to win the NCAA Championship, and the following year Chaffee was named captain. In his final year, Chaffee amassed 29 points in 30 games, before signing a two-year, entry-level contract with the Wild.
