The NHL announced Thursday that they are fining New Jersey Devils forward Jordin Tootoo $2,000 for his second diving/embellishment infraction of the season.
Tootoo was not given a diving penalty for the embellishment the NHL released video of on Thursday. It was a January 4 game against the Detroit Red Wings where Tootoo is hit from the side entering the zone on the forecheck. The seemingly light check produces a big reaction from the 5-foot-9 Tootoo.
It’s his second violation of the season, automatically triggering a $2,000 fine.
His first violation of the season came early, in an October 18 game against the Rangers, the league noted in their announcement of the fine.
The 32-year-old depth forward has three goals and eight points in 24 games this season.
