Kraken Recall Goaltender and Forward From Coachella Valley Firebirds

On April 8, the Seattle Kraken announced they had recalled Ryan Winterton and Victor Ostman from the American Hockey League’s Coachella Valley Firebirds on an emergency basis. The reason for the call-up has not been shared.

Winterton was just called up from the Firebirds on April 1. He was sent back down to Coachella Valley on April 3, only playing one game with Seattle in between. He took 16 shifts against the Vancouver Canucks on April 2 and played 12:22. Since returning to the Firebirds, he played two games with the team and recorded one goal and one assist for two points.

Ostman has spent the majority of this season playing with Seattle’s ECHL affiliate, the Kansas City Mavericks. He has played 32 games this season, recording a 21-7-4 record and .903 save percentage (SV%.)

Ostman was called up to Coachella Valley in early March. He has only played four games with the team so far and has gone 2-1-1 with a .927 SV%. He is now the third goalie to be recalled from Coachella Valley this season. He has yet to hit NHL ice, like Ales Stezka and Niklas Kokko earlier this season.

The Kraken are coming off a win against the Los Angeles Kings last night, April 7, and will look to keep up the momentum against the Utah Hockey Club tonight. The Kraken started Joey Daccord last night so it will be interesting to see who will take to the crease for them tonight.
