Rankings

Parker Vaughan was able to put together an admirable draft season in 2025-26. With this being his first full season in North Bay after a trade last season, Vaughan recorded 33 points in a full 68-game season with the Battalion, and he also recorded seven points in 10 playoff games. Seven of those points were goals, and one of those goals was a series-winning overtime marker against the Peterborough Petes.

There is a lot to like about Vaughan’s game. He brings great energy along with good size and offensive skills. One of his best attributes is his shot. As a right-handed shot, he has a very quick release, and if given the right amount of time and space, he can really fire the puck. Even if it doesn’t result in a goal for him, it can result in a goal for his team.

Vaughan also has good speed and elusiveness. In open space, he can find a way to skate through opposing teams and get the puck into the offensive zone for scoring chances. Whether he uses that space to cut to the net for a chance of his own or fire a good pass to a teammate, he really has a knack for using the space he’s given to help his team.

Where Vaughan struggled this season was simply production. North Bay wasn’t the greatest team, but they had very good players like Anaheim Ducks prospect Ethan Procyszyn, Florida Panthers prospect Shamar Moses, and future draft pick Ryder Cali. With players like that, you would have wanted Vaughan to record more than the 33 points he did.

Parker Vaughan – NHL Draft Projection

With a draft this stacked at the winger position, it will be hard to see a world where Vaughan is picked in the top 100. That doesn’t mean he won’t be picked at all. He has shown that he has talent, and a team could use what he brings to the table. I see him getting picked near the end of the fourth round or in the fifth round of the upcoming NHL Draft, and he will have many things to work on once he gets back to the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Quotables

“I was on a line with him a lot this year and I got to see what he does on and off the ice. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. He’s got a bomb of a shot, and he’s a great guy, too.” – Teammate Ryder Cali via Steven Ellis of Daily Faceoff

Under Construction/Improvements to Make

  • Leaves you wanting more

NHL Potential

I could see Vaughan in the NHL in the correct role. He could be the perfect energy player who never quits on any loose puck and tries to retrieve it for his teammates. If his shot gets better than it already is, I could see him being a good goal scorer on an NHL team as well. He still has many things about his game that he needs to improve first, but an NHL future could be in his sights if he keeps making improvements throughout the next phases of his hockey career.
