- The Fourth Period is reporting that the Florida Panthers are finalizing an eight-year contract extension with Aleksander Barkov.
“Panthers GM Dale Tallon, who inked his own three-year extension earlier today, is finalizing details on Barkov’s new contract. “
- CTV’s Brian Wilde says the Montreal Canadiens need to trade for a right wing.
“Kassian & Semin didn’t work at RW. Help is needed there & MB has the D depth to attain wing strength.”
- Darren Dreger thinks a Ryan Johansen trade is more likely during the offseason than before the deadline.
“For me, that feels like a deal that would likely get done in the offseason.”
- Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal says that the Oilers are going to continue to try and find a trade partner for Nikita Nikitin.
“The team hoped somebody would see enough of Nikitin to trade for him if they ran into injury trouble but there were no takers.”
