BUFFALO, N.Y. — A person with direct knowledge of the move tells The Associated Press the Buffalo Sabres have acquired defenceman Colin Miller from the Vegas Golden Knights for a pair of draft picks.
The Golden Knights acquired a second-round pick in the 2021 draft and a 2022 fifth-round selection. The person spoke to the AP on Friday on the condition of anonymity because the trade had not yet been announced.
It’s the second trade in two days for Vegas, which continues to shed payroll in a bid to get under the $81.5 million salary cap. Miller completed the first year of a four-year $15.5 million contract he signed last summer. On Thursday, the Golden Knights traded forward Erik Haula to Carolina.
The 26-year-old Miller has four seasons of NHL experience and had three goals and 26 assists for 29 points in 65 games last season. That was a drop-off from the previous year when he led Golden Knights defencemen with a career-best 41 points (10 goals, 31 assists).
