Sabres Week Ahead: Schedule & Storylines – Playoffs Looming, Injury Updates & More

Here is the latest news and updates around the Buffalo Sabres and their schedule for the week of March 16-23, 2026.

Injury Updates: Alex Tuch Minor Injury, Timmins Is Skating Again & More

There are just a couple of injury updates for the Sabres this week. First, Alex Tuch missed the Sabres’ 2-1 loss to the Washington Capitals on Thursday night but played in the team’s 3-2 shootout win on Saturday night vs the Toronto Maple Leafs. Connor Timmins, who has missed the last 33 games due to a lower-body injury, skated with the team Saturday morning.

As for some other injury news, Mattias Samuelsson (maintenance) and Tanner Pearson (lower-body) missed the team’s win against the Maple Leafs on Saturday. Colten Ellis also did not dress for practice on Friday morning as he was being evaluated for an injury.

Jordan Greenway has been in and out of the lineup all season, but has not skated since the Olympic break concluded. He’s been dealing with an issue related to his hernia, and he is trying a new treatment for it, but it remains unclear if he will play again this season. He was placed on injured reserve on Feb. 25.

Sabres Inch Closer to Playoffs

The Sabres sit four points ahead of the Tampa Bay Lightning for first place in the Atlantic Division, and as each day passes, they keep inching their way closer to breaking their 14-season playoff drought. They came off the Olympic break winning eight straight games before dropping a game against the Capitals 2-1 on March 12, which took a late Jakob Chychrun goal with under two minutes remaining.

The Sabres then bounced back on March 14, getting back in the win column after squeaking out a 3-2 win in the shootout against the Maple Leafs in Buffalo. Winners of nine of their last 10 games, they look to continue that as they start a four-game West Coast road trip.
