Former Florida Panther Tomas Kopecky has signed a multi-year contract with HC Oceláři Trinec in the Czech Extraliiga, the team announced on Thursday.
The 33-year-old Slovakian forward played 10 NHL seasons with the last four coming in Sunrise playing for the Panthers. He also won a Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010.
All told, he’s played 578 NHL games, scoring 68 goals and 106 assists.
He was a solid depth player for much of his career, but his scoring tailed off toward the end of his time in Florida. He posted just four goals and eight assists through 49 games during the 2013-14 season and then an even lower two goals and six assists in 64 games last year.
Over the summer he took a PTO with the Chicago Blackhawks, but was ultimately released and not given a contract or PTO by another club.
