Norris Trophy Winners, Videos and Stories

The Norris Trophy is a National Hockey League award given to the best all-around defenseman as voted by the members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association (The Hockey Writers website has no affiliation with the PHWA).
The Trophy was donated by the Norris family after the passing of James Norris who purchased the Detroit hockey team in 1932, renamed them the Red Wings and built them into the powerhouse team forever carved into NHL history.

Harry Howell on winning the Norris Trophy during Bobby Orr’s rookie season:
– I’m glad I won the award now, because I expect it’s going to belong to Bobby Orr from now on.
