Inconsistency Defines Flyers Season

While it may seem like a shock to some, we all saw it coming. We saw it coming from a mile away. The Flyers were for the lack of a better word unprepared for the 2012-13 season. While the personnel on defense and the turnover with some of the forwards was concern enough, there are ...

Nathan Horton Back to Being Captain Clutch

Nathan Horton knows about being clutch. You’ve heard this narrative before.

Perhaps the most poignant part of any Bruins Stanley Cup montage came when Tim Thomas congratulated Horton after Boston clinched the Eastern Conference Championship.

“You did it again! I can’t believe it,” said Thomas.

Horton did it again on Tuesday night.

In the team’s sixth game of the season against the New Jersey Devils, Horton scored the game-tying goal with less than five minutes remaining in the third period, sending the game to overtime and an eventual 2-1 Bruins win.

Flyers Fans Return in Large Numbers

One word that was uttered a lot during the lockout was “care.” We heard how people weren’t going to care about hockey’s labor dispute. There were theories from a lot of different people that “nobody cares.” It was put out there by many fans and media alike, but it was easy to be skeptical. Major ...

Flyers Drop Season Opener to Pens 3-1

We knew it wouldn’t take much to get the juices flowing in a Flyers-Penguins season opener in Philadelphia, and that was exactly the case. The wild sold-out crowd at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia roared in approval of the return of the National Hockey League and their Flyers. It was a playoff atmosphere early ...

Will the Flyers Use Their Buyouts Next Summer?

It feels great to be writing about actual hockey rather than collective bargaining. It’s been a grueling 113 days for fans, team employees, writers and players alike. With that said, there are a lot of details in the new CBA that we don’t know yet. We do however know about the 2 compliance buyouts that ...

How the East Has Fared Post-Lockout

As fans CONTINUE to patiently wait for the NHL and NHLPA to negotiate a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), many are reminded of a time just eight years ago when the ’04-’05 NHL season was cancelled due to a lockout. When the NHL resumed play for the ’05-’06 season, many new rules were in place ...

No Move May Be Best Move for Flyers

Despite what has been an uncharacteristically slow summer as far as results and signings go for the Flyers, fans of the team shouldn’t get too worked up. Once the disappointment subsides from the swing and miss on Shea Weber, there is a ton to be optimistic about with this current Flyers team. Let’s not forget ...

Flyers Wise Not to Overpay for Nash, Ryan

In this case, no news was and is good news for the Flyers. That is when referring to the team’s rumored runs at Rick Nash and Bobby Ryan, of course. The Flyers escaped draft weekend in Pittsburgh without mortgaging their future for a couple of temptations. That is something the Flyers and their fans should ...

Senators Giving Ottawa Fans Hope

The Ottawa Senators are supposed to be rebuilding.  Someone forgot to tell that to the team itself. Most hockey experts had the Senators pegged for dead in the 2011-12 season.  This was a team that had very little working for it.  From an aging core to limited experience…from troubles up front to troubles in goal…this ...
