The Philadelphia Flyers joined the NHL in 1967 as part of the league’s first expansion beyond the Original Six. In their seventh season, they won the 1974 Stanley Cup, becoming the first expansion team to do so. They won their second, and most recent, Cup the next season. The Flyers of the 1970s became known as the Broad Street Bullies for their aggressive and intimidating style of play and were led by Bobby Clarke, Bill Barber, and Reggie Leach. While the Flyers have gone to six Stanley Cup Finals after their 1975 Stanley Cup championship, they have yet to reclaim the glory they experienced during the 1970s.
