St. Louis Blues prospect Richard Nedomlel has signed a one-year deal with Czech side HC Sparta Prague, as first reported by hokej.cz. Nedomlel, who was traded to the Blues by the Detroit Red Wings in January, spent most of the latest couple of seasons in the ECHL.
The native of Prague, Czech Republic, plays in North America since 2010, having started his career overseas in the WHL with the Swift Current Broncos, who drafted him in the Import Draft with the 31st overall pick.
The Czech defenseman was then drafted at the end of the season by the Detroit Red Wings, with the 175th overall pick.
Nedomlel spent most of his pro career in the ECHL, in particular with the Toledo Walleye. After his trade to the Blues, he played 10 games in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves before spending the remainder of the season in the ECHL with the Quad City Mallards. In total, he spent 128 regular season games in the ECHL, scoring 11 goals and 34 points.
Most recently, Sparta signed another couple of players from North America, Martin Gernat and Dominik Uher. Other than in the Czech championship, Sparta will also participate in the Champions Hockey League.
