The Seattle Kraken are the most recent team to join the NHL, which they did before the 2021-22 season. The league approved the expansion bid in 2018 by owners David Bonderman and Jerry Bruckheimer. The Kraken struggled in their inaugural season, winning just 27 games; however, their sophomore season resulted in more success, having surpassed their first-season win and point totals in January. The 2022-23 season culminated in the franchise’s first postseason appearance, and they ended up advancing to the second round.
