Nathan MacKinnon Joins NHL History with 1,000th Career Point

With his assist on Artturi Lehkonen’s goal against the Chicago Blackhawks, Nathan MacKinnon notched his 1,000th career point. He is the 100th player in NHL history to eclipse over 1,000 career points. He now sits 49 points from passing Peter Stastny for second in all-time points by an Avalanche player and five points from passing Brian Popp for 99th in all-time scoring. He passed Jason Spezza for 99th for most points by an NHL player against the San Jose Sharks on March 6, 2024. He is the first player in the NHL this season to eclipse 100, and this is his third straight season scoring over 100 points. He is also the only other player in Avalanche history besides Peter Stastny to record three consecutive 100-point seasons.

MacKinnon’s Hart Trophy Season Continues

MacKinnon’s time with the Avalanche has been marked by his remarkable ability to set records in the franchise’s history. He has already established multiple single-season franchise records, including points (140), shots (405), and goals created (51.1). He passed Michel Goulet’s total points record with the Colorado Avalanche at 946 against the Nashville Predators on Dec. 14, 2024.
