Devils Recall Seamus Casey From the Utica Comets

On Wednesday morning, the New Jersey Devils announced they have recalled defenseman Seamus Casey from the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League (AHL). The 21-year-old will join the team as they prepare to face the New York Rangers on Saturday. Casey has already played ten games in the NHL this season, with four goals, one assist, and a plus-five rating.

Casey also has an impressive 85.71 goals for percentage (GF%), and the Devils’ goaltenders put up a .983 save percentage (SV%) with him on the ice. He has proven to be an offensive defenseman, averaging 2.51 points per 60 minutes.

Following the NHL trade deadline, Casey was reassigned to the Comets, where he has made a positive impact. In 30 games, he scored three goals and 15 assists and was selected to the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic roster.

The Devils have just six games remaining in the regular season, five of which are home games. The team is making a final playoff push, with a ten-point lead over the New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets to rank third in the Metropolitan Division.

Since the Devils are dealing with injuries to star defenseman Dougie Hamilton and Jonas Siegenthaler, Casey could make his first playoff appearance this season. He has already proven his worth at an NHL level and remains one of the team’s top defensive prospects.
