Golden Knights Sign Carl Lindbom to 3-Year Extension

The Vegas Golden Knights have secured another piece of their future in net, signing goaltender Carl Lindbom to a three-year contract extension with an average annual value of $900,000 through the 2028-29 season. The deal comes after a solid campaign for the 23-year-old, who continued his rapid rise through the organizations goaltending pipeline.

Lindbom’s extension comes on the heels of a breakout 2025-26 campaign in which he established himself as one of the American Hockey League’s (AHL) top net minders while also making his NHL debut. For an organization that has quietly built depth, keeping the 23-year-old in the fold was an easy decision.

Lindbom’s Development Continues to Impress

Lindbom was selected in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He has since exceeded expectations at nearly every turn. The Swedish netminder entered the Golden Knights’ system as a long-term project but has quickly developed into one of the organization’s most promising young players. Last season with the Henderson Silver Knights, Lindbom posted a remarkable 24-5-8 record with 2.16 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. He finished among the AHL leaders in nearly every major statistical category and earned both AHL Second All-Star Team honors and a trip to the AHL All-Star Game.

Perhaps most impressive was how he finished the season, Lindbom went 18-0-2 in his final 20 appearances, showcasing both consistency and the ability to handle a heavy workload. His calm demeanor and positional play have become defining characteristics of his game, and his strong season forced the Golden Knights to take notice. His performance also earned him his first taste of NHL action. While he appeared in only a handful of games with Vegas, the experience provided another important step in his development and gave the organization an opportunity to see how his game translated to the highest level.

Extension Strengthens Vegas’ Goaltending Depth

The Golden Knights have made a habit of ensuring they are never short on goaltending options. With Adin Hill signed long term and Carter Hart signed through the 2026-27 season. Younger prospects are continuing to work their way through the system and Lindbom’s extension gives Vegas another cost-controlled option with significant upside. Goaltending depth has become increasingly important around the NHL, and Vegas has seen firsthand how quickly injuries can test an organization’s depth chart. Keeping Lindbom under contract for the next three seasons provides both stability and flexibility.

While there is no immediate pressure for him to become a full-time NHL player, this deal gives him time to continue developing while remaining firmly in the organization’s future plans. If his progression continues on its current trajectory, he could eventually make a run at a larger role with the Golden Knights.

Smart Business for the Golden Knights

The Golden Knights have consistently found value in unexpected places, and Lindbom appears to be another example of that. Finding a potential NHL contributor in the seventh round is never easy, and his development into one of the organization’s top prospects is a credit to both the player and the team’s development staff.

At an annual cap hit of just $900,000, the extension carries virtually no risk for Vegas while potentially offering significant long-term reward. Even if Lindbom spends most of the contract continuing his development with the Henderson Silver Knights, Vegas has secured a talented young goaltender at an extremely manageable price.

As a team that is always balancing the present with the future, extending Lindbom is another move that makes plenty of sense. The Golden Knights believe they have something special in the young goaltender, and this contract ensures they’ll have ample time to see just how high his ceiling can be.
