Liam Lefebvre – 2026 NHL Draft Prospect Profile

Liam Lefebvre

2025–26 Team: Chicoutimi Saguenees (QMJHL)
Date of Birth: May 15, 2008
Place of Birth: Montreal, QC, CAN
Height: 6-foot-3, Weight: 203 pounds
Shoots: Right
Position: Center
NHL Draft Eligibility: 2026 second-year eligible

Rankings

With a draft class that isn’t loaded with options at the center position, Lefebvre could be seen as one of the market inefficiencies come selection day in June. As a tall center with some very good upside to his game, Lefebvre could be an interesting prospect for several teams when he is selected.

Splitting his time this season between Rimouski and Chicoutimi, Lefebvre stayed at a point-per-game rate in 2025-26, recording 59 points in 59 games across the two teams. Along with regular-season success, he had a significant impact in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Playoffs, recording 12 points in 20 games, helping Chicoutimi capture a league title.

An aspect that Lefebvre brings to his game is his size advantage. Many times when he is on the ice, he looks like a giant compared to the other members of his line. For a big guy, he has the skating ability to keep up, but his big attribute is his shot. Lefebvre can wire the puck on either a one-timer or a snap shot.

He also isn’t afraid to throw his body around and lay some big hits; sadly, that has landed him in some hot water, as a couple of them have ended in five-minute major penalties. But with his aggressive play, he has shown a great ability to dig out pucks in board battles and find a way to distribute it back out to his teammates in the offensive zone.

Liam Lefebvre  NHL Draft Projection

As a player going through the draft process a second time, teams will be hesitant to select Lefebvre because he is an older player. In 2025-26, he was able to show a lot of promise in the QMJHL, and I feel he bumped his draft stock throughout the season. As a center in a weaker class, I could see him being selected in the third round; he may even slip into the end of the second round if a team really likes what he can bring.

Quotables

“Big man, plus skater, good motor and is physical. That paired with the progression he has seen in his game since coming to the QMJHL this season and it’s hard to believe not only does this kid not have a thread, but he won’t be one of the first re-entries taken in this draft.” – HFBoards

NHL Potential

With centers coming at a premium in the NHL right now, Lefebvre has the chance to carve his own path into the NHL. Standing at 6-foot-3, a player of his height is always liked in front offices and with the attributes he carries, his services will also be needed at the pro level. I can see Lefebvre being a middle-six center on an NHL team, someone who can be looked upon to score, but also play a tough and physical game that throws opposing players off their game and helps turn the puck over for his team.
