The Toronto Marlies are getting a pretty important boost on the blue line at the right time. According to numerous reports, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Ben Danford has officially joined the Marlies following the end of his Ontario Hockey League season with the Brantford Bulldogs.
Danford Joins Marlies for Playoff Push
Danford, whom Toronto selected 31st overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, is coming off a solid season in Brantford, where he recorded 16 points in 37 games. The offensive numbers are fine, but that’s never really been the biggest part of his game. His value comes from the way he defends, how calm he looks under pressure, and the amount of trust coaches already seem to have in him.

He played a huge role for the Bulldogs during their playoff run before the team was eliminated in a tough Game 7 loss to the Barrie Colts last week. Danford was leaned on heavily throughout the postseason and looked comfortable playing big minutes in important situations.
For the Marlies, the timing could not be much better. They are coming off a hard-fought five-game series win over the Laval Rocket and now prepare for a North Division Finals matchup against the Cleveland Monsters. Game 1 is set for Thursday night.
