Montréal Victoire Hang On, Take Down Minnesota Frost 2-1 in Shootout

The Minnesota Frost and Montréal Victoire faced each other for the fifth time this season on Tuesday evening, Mar. 4. The Frost had their full lineup, as did the Victoire, and it was a physical game from the start. The goaltending battle was between Maddie Rooney for the Frost and Ann-Renée Desbiens for the Victoire.

It was a close-fought battle all night, with the Frost having the slight upper hand, but the control bounced back and forth as the game went on. It was tied most of the night and both overtime and a shootout were required. The Victoire scored the lone goal in the shootout and took the 2-1 win.

Game Recap

Both teams had chances, but the Frost had the slight upper hand throughout the first period. Regardless, neither team could find a way past the goaltenders and it was scoreless through the first 20 minutes.

The second period started in favor of the Victoire as Laura Stacey scored just 17 seconds into the period to give her team a 1-0 lead. Jennifer Gardiner and Erin Ambrose assisted her. It took until almost the end of the second period and four power plays for the Frost to answer back. Taylor Heise tallied the goal on the power play, and Michela Cava and Britta Curl-Salemme assisted her to tie things up 1-1, and that’s how the second period ended.

The third period followed the same outline as the first period with quite a few chances for both sides, but no goals were scored. They forced overtime and then a shootout where the Victoire came out on top and snatched the win.

The Frost will remain on the road as they head to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the Takeover Tour. They will be considered the home team as they face the Ottawa Charge on Friday, Mar. 7. The Victoire will head on the road to face the Toronto Sceptres on Thursday, Mar. 6.
