Red Wings Milestones to Watch in the 2026-27 Season

With the Red Wings 2026-27 season getting started tonight in a match against the New York Rangers, I wanted to shine a spotlight on some of the biggest milestones that the team’s players might reach this season. Whether it’s a first career game or a 300th career goal, I love following and rooting for milestones of all kinds.

Last season saw Dylan Larkin crack 600 career points, Lucas Raymond hit 100 goals and 300 points in his career, and Moritz Seider surpassed 200 career points. Which players are about to hit big round numbers this season? Let’s take a look at some of the biggest and most exciting milestones to follow during the Red Wings’ 2026-27 season.

First NHL Game

Last season saw several youngsters playing their first NHL games, and that trend should continue with Anton Johansson, Carter Bear, and William Wallinder all likely getting their first crack at NHL ice this coming season.

Viktor Arvidsson – 500 Career Points

With 443 career points so far, Arvidsson would need to have a strong season with at least 57 points in order to hit this mark. He has surpassed that total three times thus far in his career, but not since the 2022-23 season when Arvidsson scored 59 points with the Los Angeles Kings. However, with this year seeing the NHL extend the regular season to 84 games, I think he can do it, especially since he scored 54 points last season in just 69 games.

Michael Brandsegg-Nygård – Top 5 All-Time NHL Scoring by Norwegian

Michael Brandsegg-Nygård (MBN) currently sits ninth all time in NHL scoring by a Norwegian born player with . . . one career point. MBN’s atrocious puck luck in his 15 games last season was well-documented, but I believe he looks ready to take charge in Detroit’s middle-six this season.

If he can manage 23 points this season, then he will take sole position of 5th all time, and could reasonably hit 3rd all time if he reaches a career total of 36 points. It’ll take a little more than that to top the list with Mats Zucarello sitting on 744 career points as this season begins.

Ben Chiarot – 200 Career Points

Ben Chiarot doesn’t have a reputation as an offensive dynamo, but reaching 200 career points would still be impressive, placing him among the top 400 highest scoring defensemen in NHL history. Considering there have been over 2600 defensemen to play in the NHL, scoring more career points than roughly 85% of all NHL defensemen is still worthy of celebration. Chiarot has scored at a 17-point pace throughout his four seasons with the Red Wings, which rounds up to 18 over an 84 game season so there’s a chance this one hits.

Alex DeBrincat – 700 Games Played, 300 Goals, 600 Points

These ones are great because they’re all near locks to be reached within the first month of the 2026-27 season. To go with these milestones, Alex DeBrincat is also set to become a top-250 goalscorer in league history as well as a top-400 scorer overall. The most fun outcome here would be for DeBrincat to hit 300 career goals on October 29th when the Red Wings play host to the Chicago Blackhawks, against his longtime teammate Patrick Kane.

Justin Faulk – 500 Career Points

Sitting at 498 career points, this is another super safe one that could be reached as soon as tonight’s season opener.

Emmitt Finnie – 100 Games Played

Not only did Emmitt Finnie impress last year as a rookie taken just a few years ago in the seventh round of the 2023 Draft, but he managed to play a full 82-game schedule without it taking too significant of a toll on his on-ice performance. That also means that he is set to play his 100th career game on November 7 against the Colorado Avalanche.

John Gibson – Top 8 in Wins Among American Goalies

With 233 wins to this point, John Gibson sits at 10th all time for an American goalie. Jimmy Howard is at 9th with 246 wins, and Frank Brimsek is 8th with 252. Both numbers are clearly within reach this season, though reaching Mike Richter’s 301 career wins for 7th all time is going to be at least another full season away for Gibson.

Marco Kasper – Top 5 All-Time NHL Games Played by Austrian

So far, Marco Kasper has played 159 NHL games and is set to soon surpass Andreas Nödl’s 183 games played to become the Austrian player with the 5th most NHL games played. Vancouver Canucks centerman Marco Rossi sits at 4th right now with 237, so he is likely to stay ahead of Kasper for a good while. Former Red Wing Thomas Vanek leads the way with 1029 career games played and 789 total points.

Moritz Seider – 300 Career Points

With 240 points on opening night, Moritz Seider has a chance to crack the 300 point mark late this season. In a full 82-game season last year, Seider hit a new career high of 60 points, which he should be able to meet or beat this season in 84 games. Also, his 240 points rank him 8th among German born NHL players and 3rd among German defenders. With another strong offensive season, he could get as high as 6th overall and 2nd among defenders.
