Washington Capitals Acquire Lars Eller

The Washington Capitals launched the first trade of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, picking up winger Lars Eller from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Washington’s 2017 2nd round pick and 2018 2nd round pick.

The 27-year-old Eller has two years remaining on his deal with a cap hit of $3.5 million. It gives the Caps, the 2016 Presidents’ Trophy winner, another offensive weapon and great depth.

He scored 13 goals and 26 points through 72 games for the Habs last season.
