The Anaheim Ducks were founded as an expansion franchise in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company and originally named the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim with the name taking inspiration from the 1992 Walt Disney movie The Mighty Ducks. The team was sold in 2005 and a year later was rebranded as the Anaheim Ducks. Following the name and ownership change, the team found quick success with a trip to the Western Conference Final in 2006 and a Stanley Cup championship in 2007, which remains the franchise’s only championship.

As one of the younger franchises in the NHL, the Anaheim Ducks aren’t blessed with a lot of representation in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Pat Verbeek will have a top-three selection for the second time in his three years as general manager of the Anaheim Ducks. After Tuesday night’s draft lottery, Anaheim will have the third-overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.
