The Calgary Flames, established in 1972 as the Atlanta Flames before relocating to Calgary in 1980, are a professional ice hockey team based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The franchise competes in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Flames have a storied history and have become an integral part of the city’s sports culture, known for their passionate fan base and fiery determination on the ice.

The Flames’ most notable achievement came during the 1988-89 season when they captured their first and only Stanley Cup championship. Led by iconic players such as Lanny McDonald, Joe Nieuwendyk, and Al MacInnis, the team’s victory remains etched in the memories of Calgary fans. The team’s distinctive red, yellow, and black uniforms have become synonymous with the city’s identity, and the “C of Red” is a term often used to describe the sea of red-clad fans that fill the Scotiabank Saddledome during home games.

The Scotiabank Saddledome, affectionately known as the “Dome,” serves as the home arena for the Flames and is renowned for its energetic atmosphere during games. Despite facing various challenges on and off the ice, the Flames have maintained a competitive spirit and have made numerous playoff appearances over the years.
