Juha Markku “Whitey, Flying Finn” Widing (July 4, 1947 – Dec. 30, 1984) was a Swedish professional ice hockey center who was the third Finnish-born player (after Albert Pudas and Pentti Lund) to play in the National Hockey League (NHL). Widing played in the NHL for eight seasons, mostly with the Los Angeles Kings. Despite his recognition as a Finnish hockey player, he became a Swedish citizen at age four and represented the country in international competitions. In 1984, at 37, Widing passed away from a heart attack.
