Vancouver Canucks rookie Jake Virtanen has been out of the lineup since November 30 and the team announced on Thursday that he could be out for weeks.
Canucks GM Jim Benning told TSN 1040 in Vancouver, “[Virtanen’s] got a hip pointer. He’ll be out for a little bit. We don’t know. We’ll just see day-to-day how it improves and how it heals, but he could be out for a week-to-week thing.”
Virtanen has yet to get back on the ice and start skating.
He has put a goal and three assists in his 19 games this year. He was drafted 6th overall in the 2014 NHL draft.
Virtanen will be out "a little bit longer," said coach. "The other guys are closer."
