Sharks Sign Mason Marchment to 5-Year Contract With $7 Million AAV

The San Jose Sharks have signed forward Mason Marchment to a five-year contract with a $7 million annual average value (AAV), as per Elliotte Friedman.

Marchment Joins Up-and-Coming Sharks Squad

The left winger will join an up-and-coming Sharks squad that has a boatload of young talent up front and improved by 34 points last season from 2024-25, when they finished dead last in the NHL. The 31 year old will be able to provide a veteran presence and an additional scoring touch for head coach Ryan Warsofsky’s club.

Marchment split time between the Seattle Kraken and Columbus Blue Jackets last season, being traded to the latter in December. After posting four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 29 games for the Kraken, he recorded 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points in 39 games for Blue Jackets to total 45 between the teams.

The undrafted Ontario product has recorded 95 goals and 139 assists for 234 points in 370-regular season games between the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, Kraken, and Blue Jackets since breaking into the league in 2019-20; he also has 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points in 59-career playoff games. His best campaign came with the Stars in in 2023-24, when he posted 22 goals and 31 assists for 53 points in 81 games.

He was coming off a four-year deal with a $4.5 million AAV he signed with the Stars in 2022.

Sharks Bring Family Connection For Marchment

Mason Marchment has a family connection to the Sharks as well: His late father Bryan Marchment played for the Sharks from 1997-98 through 2002-03 and was both a scout and in charge of player development for the club after his retirement.
