Every fall, the Detroit Red Wings host the Traverse City Tournament that features prospects from various teams from the NHL battling for the Matthew Wuest Memorial Cup. As the development of prospects and fan interest continues to grow, more events for prospects to showcase their skills and potential continue to grow.
The Buffalo Sabres have announced that the team will host the first ever Prospects Challenge at the First Niagara Center and HARBORCENTER in Buffalo.
The challenge will take place from September 12 to 14. It will feature prospects from the Sabres, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils. The three teams will play two games during the three-day event in a round-robin format.
The schedule for the challenge is as follows:
Saturday, Sept. 12: Buffalo vs. New Jersey, 7 p.m., First Niagara Center
Sunday, Sept. 13: Boston vs. New Jersey, 7 p.m., HARBORCENTER
Monday, Sept. 14: Buffalo vs. Boston, 7 p.m., First Niagara Center
Fans interested in attending can purchase tickets for $10 each at the First Niagara Center Box Office. More information, including participating players, will be released in the coming weeks as the event approaches.
