Brooks Orpik Leaves With Lower Body Injury

In Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik left the game with a lower body injury.

The team announced during the game that it was a lower body injury and that Orpik would not return to the game. They plan to have the 35-year-old defender re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Orpik has played 13 games this season, scoring one goal and a pair of assists while averaging 20:12 of ice time. He also sports a -6.6% score-adjusted CF%Rel with a -6.2 ZSO%Rel.

The Capitals are in second place in the Metropolitan Division with a 10-4-0 record and 20 standings points. They’re four points back of the division-leading New York Rangers.
