Michael Zalewski Gets 1-Year Deal From Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks have signed 23-year-old forward Michael Zalewski to a one-year contract, the team announced late Tuesday night.

The contract is a two-way deal with a pro-rated NHL value of $575,000 and $70,000 in the AHL with $125,000 guaranteed, according to TVA’s Renaud Lavoie and General Fanager.

The Canucks had previously given Zalewski a NHL contract when he was signed coming out of college, scoring nine goals and 26 points in 35 games with RPI. He played two games with the Canucks in the 2013-14 season.

Since then he’s been playing with the team’s AHL affiliate in Utica, where he has eight goals and 17 points in 36 games this season. He’s had some nice moments in the AHL this season, earning Utica player of the week honors earlier this month from Canucks Army.
