Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Ellis left the game during the third period of Saturday’s match against the Ottawa Senators and did not return. He appeared to have injured his knee, but the only statement from the team was that Ellis “has a lower-body injury and will be re-evaluated back in Nashville.”
The injury occurred during the third when Ellis lifted his leg to block a shot in front of netminder Carter Hutton, who was getting his first start of the young season. Ellis took the shot off his right knee and immediately went down in pain. Watch the play in the GIF below.
Through five games this season, Ellis has one assist and 10 shots. He currently carries a 49% score-adjusted CF% with a -3.4% relative mark.
