The current Winnipeg Jets originate back to the Atlanta Thrashers, which joined the league during the 1999 Expansion. The Thrashers struggled during their existence with only one postseason appearance in 12 seasons. Following the 2010-11 season, they relocated to Winnipeg to bring back the Jets franchise name. The Jets have had moderate success since relocating with six postseason appearances in 12 seasons.

Avalanche’s 3 Keys to Playoff Success Against the Jets in Round 1

Don’t look now, but the start of the 2024 NHL Playoffs (April 20) is just around the corner. The Colorado Avalanche are staring down a first-round match-up with the Winnipeg Jets to kick off the postseason, with the Jets carrying home-ice advantage by virtue of finishing second in the Central Division. The Jets also swept the season series (3-0-0) and outscored the Avalanche 17-4 over those three games, punctuated by a recent 7-0 drubbing on Apr. 13. The Avalanche have a number of combinations to choose from when it comes to playoff lines, though a recent run of poor results…

The 31-year-old netminder was, for the most part, stellar and should be a shoo-in to win the second Vezina Trophy of his career and first since 2020. There were certainly other goaltenders around the league who had excellent seasons — the Florida Panthers’ Sergei Bobrovsky, New York Rangers’ Igor Shesterkin, and Vancouver Canucks’…

Connor Hellebuyck Wins His First William M. Jennings Trophy

The NHL regular season is officially over, and with that, some of the season awards have been announced. The William M. Jennings Trophy is awarded to “the goaltender having played a minimum of 25 games for the team with the fewest goals scored against it, based on regular-season play.” In the past, we have seen some big names win this trophy, like Dominik Hasek, Patrick Roy, and Ed Belfour, and now Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck’s name is added to that long list of NHL greats. Hellebuyck has had an outstanding NHL career even though he was drafted in the fifth round…
