17. Scott Glennie – Winnipeg, MTB – 6’1″ – 180 lbs – WHL – Brandon – C

One-Timer: A consistent scorer with pure goal-scorers touch, the speedy and talented forward unfortunately had his season cut short with a broken elbow. At the time, he was tied for 6th in the WHL scoring race. He came back with relentless determination and had a very strong playoffs, notching 18 points in just 12 games. Some wonder if his stock is elevated because of playing with the likes of Schenn and Matt Calvert, but others argue it may, in fact, be Glennie helping the offensive stats of the other two. My personal feeling is they are all strong players in their own right.

Scouting Combine Performance:

  • Gare Joyce stated: “Glennie toughed out the bench and did some decent work although he could have begged off due to a bum elbow that knocked him out of the line-up late in the season.” He did however score “BA” below average in upper and lower body development.
  • TSN staff observed: “Brandon winger Scott Glennie (ranked #7) had a solid vertical, though his upper body strength was questionable, though that could very well be a reflection of his missing time this season with a broken elbow.”

International Tournaments: NHL.com states: “Representing Canada for the first time at the 2008 Ivan Hlinka Memorial, he recorded three points (2-1–3) in four games, helping Canada win gold. Also participated in the 2008 World Under-17 Challenge, winning bronze as a member of Team West.”
