Despite the investigation still ongoing, it’s unlikely that Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane will face charges regarding the sexual assault case against him.
The update was given earlier this week by Tim Graham of The Buffalo News.

Back in December, it was revealed that Kane was the subject of a sexual assault investigation after a women he was allegedly with went to the hospital with injuries. She then told investigators that she had no recollection of what had happened on the night she was supposedly with Kane. Graham added she went to the hospital because she was injured, and wasn’t sure how she suffered them.
This, according to Graham, is what led to the investigation.
Kane has since denied any wrongdoing, and the case had gone quiet since the days following the revelation. With the toxicology report still out, it’s likely to be some time before anything definitive is announced regarding the case. The Buffalo Police Department has denied multiple requests for comment on the investigation since it was revealed last year.
In his first season with the Sabres, Kane has 15 goals and 8 assists for 23 points in 46 games. He is currently in the middle of a run that has seen him score four goals over the last five games, and is on pace to finish the season with 23 goals and 13 assists for 36 points.
