This is Not a Test: A Latvian Rap Song About Zemgus Girgensons

Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons finished the All-Star voting period as the top vote getter. Not Sidney Crosby, not Patrick Kane, and not Steven Stamkos. He received 1,574,896 votes for the All-Star game taking place in Columbus later this month.

Girgensons is portrayed as an unknown to hockey fans outside of Buffalo and his home country of Latvia, but the hockey community will soon get to know his name. OLAS, a Latvian rap group, has recently exemplified the support his country has shown by making Girgensons his very own song named after himself.

In other words, Girgensons has made it, on and off the ice. Girgensons is tied for second on the Sabres with 20 points (11 goals and nine assists), and is the only Sabres player with double-digit goals this season.
