As teams prepare for the beginning of training camp, some unrestricted free agents are invited to camp on a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
A player who signs a PTO can attend training camp, but is not restricted to signing a contract with the team who offered a PTO. These players are allowed to play preseason games, but would need an official standard contract to play regular season games.
