Connor Smith covers the Chicago Blackhawks for The Hockey Writers. He's based in Chicago and earned his Master of Science from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in summer 2023, where he covered events such as Super Bowl LVII, the Chicago Marathon and Chicago Bears rookie minicamp. He previously attended Ball State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in May 2022. He held multiple positions with The Ball State Daily News, the campus student newspaper, serving as a general sports reporter (2018-21), associate sports editor (2020-21) and managing editor (2021-22) while co-hosting a sports talk show for the campus radio station, 91.3 WCRD FM.
