The Chicago Blackhawks joined the NHL in 1926 as one of the league’s Original Six franchises. At the time, they were known as the Black Hawks and remained so until the 1986-87 season. In 96 seasons, they have made the postseason 63 times and have won six Stanley Cups. Those championships include two in the 1930s and three in the 2010s with their latest occurring in 2015. Additionally, they have reached the Stanley Cup Final six times.

The Chicago Blackhawks hosted the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, Dec. 28, and it was one of the strangest games I’ve ever attended. To start with, it was warm and rainy when I entered the United Center, and then cold and windy when I left. Just like the fickle weather, the Blackhawks flashed moments of growth and improvement while still managing to lose the game 7-3. Without Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar, this is a team that’s having trouble finding their offense. They’ve lost seven of their last eight games. On a Sunday night in Chicago, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins met for the first time this season.
