Alexei Vyacheslavovich Kovalev (born February 24, 1973) is a Russian professional ice hockey coach, executive and former player. He is currently serving as the assistant coach for HC Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

During his career, he played in over 1,300 National Hockey League (NHL) games over 18 seasons for the New York RangersPittsburgh PenguinsMontreal CanadiensOttawa Senators, and Florida Panthers. He was originally drafted by the Rangers and won a Stanley Cup with them in 1994.
