Andre Benoit (born January 6, 1984) is a former Canadian ice hockey player, having played his final year in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues during the 2015-2016 season. Undrafted at the NHL level, Benoit recorded back-to-back 70-point seasons on the Kitchener Rangers’ blue line, making him one of the best point-producing defensemen of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) during that span. His offensive awareness earned him a contract with the Montreal Canadiens‘ American Hockey League affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, for the 2005-06 season.

In his rookie season, Benoit put up 26 points in 70 games, and improved to 31 points in 64 games the following year, aiding the Bulldogs to winning the AHL Calder Cup Championship in 2007. After his contract came to its conclusion, Benoit took his talents overseas, playing one year with Tappara of Finland’s SM-Liiga and another year with Södertälje SK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). After capturing a SM-liiga Bronze Medal and winning the Spengler Cup with Team Canada in 2008, Benoit returned to the NHL on a one-year deal with the Canadiens, but was used only in the AHL as one of the team’s alternate captains.

Benoit made his NHL debut during the 2010-11 season, playing in eight games with the Ottawa Senators where he recorded one assist and a minus-1 rating. The following year, he earned more playing time and recorded three goals and ten points in 33 games. In 2013, Benoit earned a full-time role with the Colorado Avalanche, registering career highs in games played (79), goals (7), assists (21), and points (28). He appeared in one season with the Buffalo Sabres, and one more with the Blues, before retiring at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season.
