Steven Stamkos (born February 7, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre and captain of the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). After a successful OHL career, Stamkos was selected first overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Lightning. He is a two-time Maurice Richard Trophy winner as the NHL’s leading goal scorer (2010 and 2012), is a two-time NHL Second Team All-Star (2011, 2012), and has been named to six NHL All-Star Games. He has scored the most points among players born in the 1990s decade. Stamkos captained the Lightning to a Stanley Cup championship in 2020, winning his first title and the franchise’s second.
