Cale Douglas Makar (born October 30, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the first round, fourth overall, by the Avalanche in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Makar won the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year in 2019–20, becoming the sixth Avalanche/Nordiques player to win the award. Then in 2021-22, he added even more to his trophy case with the Norris Trophy, Conn Smythe Trophy and Stanley Cup.
